Walnut Marzipan

Marzipan is a essentially known as a paste of sugar and nuts. I give you a walnut twist on this delicious treat with a touch of rum! You can mold into small balls and cover in colored sugar for a sweet treat.

Walnut Marzipan

Ingredients

  • 1-1/2 cups California walnuts

  • 1 cup powdered sugar

  • 1 teaspoon dark rum

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Directions

  1. Place walnuts in a food processor and mix until finely ground.

  2. Add powdered sugar, rum and salt. Mix until combined.

  3. Add cold water, 1/2 teaspoon at a time, until the mixture comes together and forms a crumbly dough.

  4. Turn marzipan out onto a surface, sprinkled with a bit of powdered sugar, and use your hands to press crumbs into a log.

  5. Wrap in plastic wrap and store in a dark and cool place until ready to use.
