Homemade Walnut Butter

It is sooooo easy to make your own nut butter! Having various nut butters on hand is great for a quick snack, sandwich filling and ingredients to add to sauces, baked goods, salad dressings, and even soups and stir frys. Walnut butter is full of omega 3s and the roasting in walnut oil gives a fantastic rich flavor to this delicious spread.

Walnut Butter

Makes 1 cup

Ingredients:

2 cups California Walnuts

3 teaspoons walnut oil (divided)

1/2 teaspoon kosher salt

2 teaspoons honey

Directions:

  1. In a pan heat 1 teaspoon of the walnut oil and roast the walnuts on medium heat for 3-5 minutes, stirring frequently.

  2. In a food processor or high-powered blender, add the roasted walnuts, remaining 2 teaspoons of walnut oil, salt, and honey and blend until smooth and creamy.

  3. Allow to cool before storing in an airtight container. Store in the refrigerator.
